Melba’s was born from the rubble of Hurricane Katrina when Melba’s owner, Scott Wolfe, Sr., turned a blighted corner into a New Orleans landmark. Located at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Elysian Fields Avenue, this PoBoy Shoppe has become the cornerstone of the neighborhood and well-known as a favorite among the locals.
New Orleans tourists crave Melba’s Creole flavor and urban atmosphere. Located just blocks away from the French Quarter and en route to the Lower 9th Ward Katrina tours, Melba’s is the perfect place to stop and experience authentic New Orleans cuisine. Come discover our authentic PoBoys, where what you see is absolutely what you get.
Off-street parking is provided for tour buses and large groups. Enjoy Melba’s casual atmosphere, listen to the jazz music and let our delicious sandwiches make your taste buds dance. The only thing more flavorful than our PoBoys is the Melba’s experience itself. Don’t miss out!
About the Owner
Founder Scott Wolfe, Sr. was born and raised in New Orleans. He is best known as the proprietor of one of New Orleans’ most famous slogans, “You Can’t Beat Wagner’s Meat.” Scott grew the Wagner’s family meat markets into a chain of stores throughout New Orleans, employing more than 300 people. Wolfe has always been a proud supporter of the surrounding communities, and Melba’s is no different with its support of The Vine Community Church located across the street.
About The Vine Community Church
Wolfe purchased the blighted home and renovated it into a beautiful Chapel and outreach center for Pastor Corey Hicks. Pastor Hicks started out as a young man on the mean streets of New Orleans who took all the wrong turns until reaching bottom. From that point, Pastor Hicks picked himself up and dedicated his life to the Lord and the youth of New Orleans by growing The Vine Community Church into one of the 8th Ward’s more premier congregations.
Scott and Melba’s are proud to partner with Pastor Hick’s vision of rescuing New Orleans’ troubled youth. And if you would like to support Pastor Hicks and The Vine Outreach Center, we encourage you to “round up” your change to the next dollar the next time you come to Melba’s.
